Supporting Network Rail’s safety promise of ‘Everyone Home Safe Every Day'.
Mothballed since 1972, the Dartmoor Line between Exeter and Okehampton was officially reopened on Saturday 20th November for regular passenger train services.
Two-hourly seven-days-a-week services are now being operated by Great Western Railway (GWR).
The mammoth project saw Network Rail's team of engineers and contractors work day and night to deliver a huge programme of work to physically reopen the line in just nine months, including laying 11 miles of new track and installing 24,000 concrete sleepers and 29,000 tonnes of ballast in a record-breaking 20-day period - a huge achievement.
It was a privilege to help keep workers safe throughout the project with our MyZone Worker Alert System and to support Network Rail’s safety promise of ‘Everyone Home Safe Every Day'.
